Channel Your Inner Shark!

August 12th is the beginning of Comic Book Shark Week Two (CBSW2), launched by Troy Little in 2011. To find out all about the excitement of Comic Book Shark Week, head over to the official site!

August 16th there is a CBSW2 event in Charlottetown PEI. Unfortunately I can't physically join in there, but will be working remotely in the spirit of CBSW. I'll be taking the opportunity to finish four of my 'orphan' 24 Hour Comics Day comics that are each missing about 4 pages (I figure that's about 16 pages in total!) Troy Little and I will hopefully Skype and cheer each other on.

Feel free to launch yourself into a comic-making frenzy during this fantastic week of shark and comic related goodness! Buy the t-shirt! Hang out with your 'chums' n__n

Draw :-D

Cheers,
Suzanne.

June 27th Omens, Superstitions, Luck

Suzanne and Fletch share a smile at the June edition of the Ottawa Comic Jam

Hello everyone,

Thanks for being patient! My old scanner was chugging away yesterday and I got the art scanned from our exciting June Comic Jam. The theme was Omens, Superstitions and Luck and we definitely had some great artwork inspired from the theme!

It was a great turnout at the Shanghai Restaurant, as we took over the entire east side of the place. We were rowdy, fun, boisterous and creative; and got plenty of drawings done. The Ottawa Comic Jam was lucky to have the inspired, special guest sculptor from Vancouver BC, James Fletcher attend the jam. It was his last night in town from an extended stay which included an incredible show with Patrick John Mills Gallery as part of the Naked Naked Naked celebration.

This September, Ottawa will host 'La Nuit Blanche' with the theme of Life is Beautiful. Gérard Bélec and the Ottawa School of Art will be promoting comic jamming with an evening of open jamming during Nuit Blanche. It should be amazing!

CanCon is also happening the same weekend (Sept 21 - 23), but there's no reason that folks couldn't attend both of course! Please check out these events and support art and our fellow jammers with your participation and interest!

Special thanks to everyone who took the time to attend the June jam and contributed artwork and funky ideas:  Clayton Jacobs, Dwight Williams, Scott MacLellan, Andrew Stutt, James Rule, Liz Walsh, Tim J. Moerman, Gérard Bélec, Jessica Mitchell, Jesse Kaunisviita, Amy VanTorre, Nina Charest, Lindsay Christina MacDonald, Jill Stothart, Susan Roston and of course James Fletcher!

Thanks also to Don at the Shanghai for continuing to take good care of our group and helping to promote creativity, artwork and a safe and supportive space in which to create.

Cheers & keep creative!
