April 26th, 2017 'Mini Con' UPDATED

Last April, the Ottawa Comic Jam celebrated the "convention season". Since quite a few of our members (both past and present) enjoy participating in cons, we held a 'Mini Con' of our own. Artists and other creative folk brought things they had prepared for the convention circuit to show off, share, sell and trade. It was a lot of fun! Hope everyone enjoys comic cons this year and gets inspired to make more comics, write stories, connect with creative people and fans :-)

Thanks to the Shanghai Restaurant and the Kwan family for supporting the Ottawa Comic Jam (we even got Don to do a doodle or two this time round!) Thanks to everyone who took the time to come out and draw with us last month and tell fun, cooperative stories: Suzanne Marsden, Clayton Jacobs, Andrew Stutt, Sophie Nicholas, Scott MacLellan, Liz Walsh, James Rule, Ifer Lawrence, Keith Savage, Shashi Bhushan, Leticia Charles and Don Kwan.

Enjoy the artwork!
Cheers,
Sue.

March 29 2017 Message in a Bottle UPDATED

What would you write and put in a bottle to send out to the world? What would you think if you found a bottle with a note (or comic) in it? These ideas were the springboard of March's comic jam and helped spur some fun ideas for cooperative drawing!

Thanks to those who joined in the fun at the Shanghai Restaurant: Sue Marsden, Clayton Jacobs, Andrew Stutt, Scott MacLellan, Liz Walsh, James Rule and Don Kwan.

Cheers!
Suzanne.

February 22, 2017 Frost Giants UPDATED

Frost Giant (c) 2017 Suzanne Marsden
A small, but dedicated bunch of artists and writers make the Ottawa Comic Jam very special. It was nice that on a cold, wintery February evening, folks took the time to come out and draw together in good company!

Thanks to: Suzanne Marsden, Clayton Jacobs, Andrew Stutt, Scott MacLellan, Liz Walsh and James Rule for contributing to these fun stories! Thanks as always to the Shanghai and its great staff for continuing to provide a supportive and safe space to draw and create.

Cheers!
Sue M.

January 25, 2017 Snow Queens UPDATED

January's comic jam theme was Snow Queens (and like our usual rules about themes, you can run with them, ignore them, transform them or come up with your own!) Lots of lovely, creative artwork from the band of talented artists and writers who joined in on the jam.

Special thanks to Clayton Jacobs for leading the winter jam, as I was otherwise engaged. Thanks also to: Gérard Bélec, Andrew Stutt, Scott MacLellan, James Rule, Liz Walsh, Kat MacGregor, Amy VanTorre, Dwight Williams, Ifer Lawrence and Marisol Eggleton for taking the time to come out and share their creativity with the Ottawa Comic Jam group!

Thanks always to the Shanghai Restaurant and its loving staff for taking care of hungry artists in need and making sure our tables are all set up for the Art Making!

Cheers,
Sue M.

November 30, 2016 Christmas Jam UPDATED

Ho-Ho-Ho November's Jam is usually Holiday themed (since we take December off). It was a lovely night of artmaking and chicanery! Thanks to: Suzanne Marsden, Clayton Jacobs, Scott MacLellan, Andrew Stutt, Amy VanTorre, James Rule, Liz Walsh, Dwight Williams and Ifer for coming out and doing some fun drawings!

Big thanks as always to the Shanghai Restaurant, Don, Mabe, Ed, Helen and co. for taking good care of us and providing a safe, creative and supportive environment in which to draw cooperatively!

Cheers
Suzanne.
